EuCuE 2003-2004

 Series XXII

 Oscar Peterson Concert Hall

 Concordia University Loyola Campus

7141 Sherbrooke Ave. West

 Montreal, Quebec H4B 1R6

Late-Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y

For the twenty-second season, Concordia Electroacoustics (EuCuE) will be presenting works from Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, UK and the USA.

To bring together this wide assortment of countries, styles, and aesthetics, eight composers were each challenged to suggest 1 hour of studio-based-electroacoustics that was close to themselves geographically, aesthetically and 'from their own generation'.

As the contributors were born between 1960 and 1980, the pieces they contributed to the pool of pieces that will be played over the 15 EuCuE concerts this season provide an interesting sonic portrait of a generation of electroacoustic composers.

Along side the pieces from the EuCuE contributors will be the top five pieces from the JTTP 2003 (Canada and UK) as well as some recent compositions from Concordia University's electroacoustics program.

EuCuE would like to thank the following contributing composers for their aid with this series:

David Berezan
John Drever
Louis Dufort
Hideko Kawamoto
Suk-Jun Kim
Alistair MacDonald
Paul Rudy
Yu-Chung Tsen

  VERTEX
ÉuCuE is very pleased to be collaborating with Vertex.
Vertex, composed of Nicolas Basque and Andrew Watson, is presenting an interactive electroacoustic installation in the atrium of the Loyola Campus Library

Year 2004

This series will be showcasing pieces from the USA, Korea and New Zeland, as well as many Concordia student works. Electroacoustics for fixed medium (CD and multi-channel) video (DVD and mini-DV), and live/mixed (live electronics and piano and fixed medium) will be presented. As always the concerts are free.

ÉuCuE is very pleased to be collaborating with Vertex. Vertex, composed of Nicolas Basque and Andrew Watson, is presenting an interactive electroacoustic installation in the atrium of the Loyola Campus Library Building prior to the ÉuCuE events February 18-20. The music will be improvised, with microphones setup to be used as sound sources. The sounds of passers-by, and of those inspired to participate more directly, will be processed and diffused to a number of speakers located around the space to create an on-going composition and a unique sonic environment.
